Our volunteers

As a community project, Free Cakes for Kids in Oxford is run by a team of currently 25, who bring different skills and resources to the table. None of us are paid for what we do. We are 100% volunteers.

What volunteers do

While the most obvious activity is baking, there are a lot more skills required. Some of our team have focused on running community baking sessions, others keep in touch with community organisations or work on our website. We also have Alban on the team, a terrific taxi driver, who helps out when a family finds it difficult to pick up a cake. And then there are Farmer Dave and his coop of chickens, who proudly provide us with fresh eggs.

Want to join us?

Get in touch with Michele Peters, our volunteer coordinator. Michele will tell you a bit more about what we do in Oxford and how you can contribute. Perhaps most importantly, she will tell you about food safety, confidentiality and community spirit, the three core values at Free Cakes for Kids Oxford. Once you are signed up, you will join our two-monthly volunteer meetings, be added to our mailing list and get to know a bunch of great people.
